LIVONIA ATHLETIC DISTRICT (LAD) PICK UP GAME (PUG) 9v9 League Rules
(Please Note All FIFA Rules Apply Unless Specified Otherwise)
1. GENERAL GAME FORMAT
1.1. All 9v9 PUG games will be played for a maximum of 5 mins on a continuous clock (counting down), or until the first goal is scored.
1.2. The winning team (team that scores first goal) stays on the field to face new opponent for a maximum of 4 consecutive games, or a maximum of 6 consecutive games if goals are scored within the first minute of play.
1.3. If the winning team scores but has reached the maximum allotted number of consecutive games, the winning team is still awarded full points for that game.
1.4. Winning team must score to stay on before time expires. If the winning team fails to score in a scoreless game, the “newest” opposing team stays on the field. No points are awarded to either team in that case, but the most recent team stays on the field.
1.5. If the first game of a match day ends scoreless at the end of regulation time, then both teams will come off. Both teams will continue to come off until there is a winning team established.
1.6. First two teams to play on any given match day will be chosen by random game of chance (e.g. pick a number between 1-10).
1.7. Winning team kicks off every new game except for the first game on match day. Ball will be played on to the field of play by referee at random.
1.8. Referee will control the clock and will have final discretion on time stoppages if any.
1.9. League winners will be determined according to the total number of accumulated points during all match days for a given league session.
1.10. Points are awarded as follows: Game win-3 pts, scoreless ties-0 pts, loss-0 pts.
1.11. In case of a tie in total points a final penalty shootout in accordance to FIFA rules will be played on the last match day of the league session. If more than 2 teams are tied a knockout round of penalties will be played with teams playing each other in a random playoff selection.
2. TEAM ROSTERS
2.1.1.All team rosters are unlimited, but a player can only be rostered on a single team for any given league session.
2.1.2.A player can only play on their rostered team on any given match day.
2.1.3.In the rare event a player is allowed to play on multiple teams on a given match day, the team on which the non-rostered player plays will be allowed to play in accordance to LAD PUG rules, but will not be awarded any points for any game they win with the non-rostered player on the field.
2.1.4.All 9v9 games will be played with 9 players, 8 field players and a goalkeeper. A team needs a minimum of 6 rostered players on the field to begin games.
2.1.5.Full CO ED league teams must roster a minimum of 2 female players and must always field a minimum of 2 female players, including the goalkeeper.
2.1.6.Open League games allow for any combination of female or male players
2.1.7.In the event of player expulsion, a team must be able to field 5 rostered players or that team will forfeit their remaining games on that match day.
3. GENERAL RULES OF PLAY
3.1.1.All games will be played in accordance with FIFA rules unless otherwise stated.
3.1.2.Referees will have final say on all calls. No protests will be allowed.
3.1.3. No offsides will be awarded.
3.1.4. The ball is considered out of bounds when the entire ball crosses the side lines or goal lines and will result in throw ins, goal kicks, or corners.
3.1.5.If the ball that hits the top netting or cross wires at the LAD, the ball is considered in play unless ball goes out as a result of contact with said objects. Normal restart rules apply.
3.1.6. If a throw in is impeded by the side netting a player will be allowed to advance the ball beyond the obstruction at the referee's discretion.
3.1.7.No slide tackling will be allowed. Slide tackling may result in a 2-minute penalty.
3.1.8.All restarts, other than those as a result of a foul, are indirect kicks.
3.1.9.Restarts as the result of a foul are either direct or indirect in accordance with FIFA rules.
3.1.10. Defenders must be at least 7 feet from the ball on free kicks or restarts.
3.1.11. Penalty kicks are awarded according to FIFA rules and will be taken at the designated penalty markers.
3.1.12. Kick-offs may travel backwards.
3.1.13. The outdoor pass back rule to a keeper is in effect.
3.1.14. Substitutions can happen on the fly. Players should be off the field before sub enter.
3.1.15. ALL PLAYERS MUST WEAR SHIN GUARDS.
3.1.16. No watches, bracelets or jewelry will be allowed per FIFA rules.
3.1.17. The LAD turf allows for cleats, or indoor turf cleats. Running shoes are strongly discouraged.
3.1.18. Newest team to enter field must change uniform or wear pinnies if referee determines there is a color conflict. If this occurs during first game of a match day referee will randomly assign team to change uniforms or wear pinnies.
3.1.19. Player must have properly completed waiver form to be eligible to play. If a player plays without this wavier or fields illegible players, team is subject to a forfeit.
4. PLAYER DISCIPLNE
YELLOW and/or RED cards will be handed out in accordance to FIFA rules in addition to the following:
4.1.1.Referees have the ability to issue a 2-minute penalty to any player without necessarily
giving them a YELLOW or RED card (or a combination of penalty and card). Teams who receive a 2 minute penalty must play down a man until the referee indicates their penalty is over.
4.1.2.If a player receives a YELLOW CARD in any game, that player will receive a 2-minute penalty off the field with the team playing down a player for the duration of the penalty.
4.1.3.Goalkeepers who receive a YELLOW CARD will also be required to serve a 2-minute penalty but may be replaced by another player; their team will still play down a player for the duration of the penalty period.
4.1.4.If a player receives a second YELLOW CARD in the same game, that player will be out for
remainder of that game and the team will play short one player for the remainder of the game.
4.1.5.Two YELLOW CARDS in a single game will result in that player being forced to sit out 1 subsequent game. If a player does not abide by this rule and is found to be on the field when they should not be, they will be disqualified from playing the rest of the games on that match day.
4.1.6.If a player accumulates 3 YELLOW CARDS in a single match day that player will be barred from playing the remainder of that match day.
4.1.7. If a player receives a direct RED CARD, that player will be out for the remainder of that game and will be barred from playing for the remainder of that match day. His/her team will play short one player for the remainder of that given game but can resume full numbers after that game.
4.1.8.If a goalkeeper receives a red card, the team will play short one player but may put in another goalkeeper.
4.1.9. A player who receives a RED CARD on any match day is prohibited from playing in any game at that age group for the subsequent week.
4.1.10. Any coach receiving a red card is prohibited from coaching during any game for the remainder of that match day and for the subsequent week.
4.1.11. If a player or coach receives a second RED CARD during the same league session, they will be prohibited from participation with any team at the LAD for the remainder of the league session.
4.1.12. The LAD reserves the right to terminate any team’s participation without reimbursement or compensation if violent or reckless conduct is attributed to any member of the team including spectators.
